Bila tengok citer kat TV, masa nama-nama actors/actresses & orang-belakang-tabir kuar tu..MrHubby ada cakap "Camna la diorang ni pilih nama ye? Surname tu kadang-kadang pelik je."
Meh kita tengok contoh sikit.
- Christina Applegate : Pagar Epal.
- Britney Spears: Lembing
- Justin Timberlake: Tasik Kayu Pokok
- Lindsay Lohan: Ikan lohan
I addressed most of my non-Malay friends (kat Aus dulu) by their English names.
Yang nama pelik-pelik dari Thai, macam Namfon Pantarat... we called her Beth.
Nama dari China yang tergeliat lidah nak sebut, we call Benson, Julia dan ntah apa lagi.
Those from Germany, France, Aussie and the like.. use common English names.
The not-so-tongue-twisting ones (e.g. from Vanuatu, India, Japanese, Vietnam)...guna nama masing-masing la. Roy, Enneth, Sanket, Sandip, Suguru, Thao.
My two best friends....
The one from Korea, Myung Jin is Kelly. Her bf (now hubs) is Wayne.
The Taiwanese Chien Ting is Rebecca.
Aku sendiri diorang panggil 'Is' je. Pernah sekali tu aku test tanya Kelly "Do u know my real name?"
"Ermm.. I think it's Isabella."
Hahaha... Nak berguling atas lantai pun ada, nak kembang hidung pun ada.
No wonder la Rebecca sent my birthday present with the name Isabella (not Isabelle) on the envelope.
Giler la. Berkawan sikit punya kamceng, eventually when I asked Kelly to collect my booking details from the StudentFlights dia belek passport aku... baru dia tau nama penuh aku.
I once asked my other Korean housemate, Chris (the one in orange)- HOW DID HE GET HIS ENGLISH NAME?
He said... his Aussie godmother wanted to make things easy, so he was asked to pick one English name.
Bcoz I simply think 'Chris' is easy, I decided on the name.
Laaa... mati-mati aku bayangkan pemilihan nama tu ada cara dan salasilahnye. Buang karen jer.
Patutlah Rebecca boleh berangan nak tukar nama jadi Cynthia. Yet, she still used the former on her wedding day.
Anyway, I was strictly reminded by them not to use their English names kalo call umah diorang dulu, sebab parents diorang maybe ingat salah nombor. Hahaha.
So, I learnt several Korean/Mandarin words to start the phone conversation, before uttering their real names.
So, peeps...if u were to pick one English name (saja suka-suka), what'd it be?
I'm happy with mine bcoz ISABELLE tu ada makna yang sangat mendalam bagi aku.
