18 months and growing

Tick-tock-tick-tock…
Little Cikebum is gonna be 18 mths next week!

For the last few weeks, I really enjoyed hearing him say…
•Adam… (how sweet!)
•Adik… (err... does he mean an adik for him?) :P
•Acik (which refers to K.Hasnah the sitter)
•Air… (when he wants any drink, except the candu from Mama)
•Ball… (refereing to bola la)

And when I sing the Teletubbies song…“Tinky winky… Dipsy… La Laa…”

He’d continue with an adorable…“Po…”

Ahhh… that really melts my heart away.
No words of “Ayah” so far. I believe it’d be easier if Mr Hubby wanted to be called Papa, Dada or Baba. But that’s alrite. The time will come soon.

Anyway… actually, I have made many attempts to put him to bed without having me by his side (from the day he was born, he is used to having bonbons until he falls asleep). It is not an easy task. A part of me is trying to be firm with the decision, while the other part insists on letting him off my arms so I could do the housechores when dozed off.

I really have to do this… Else, I’d end up nursing him (lying by his side) until God-knows-when he catches some Z’s or worse, I’d snooze even before he does. No wonder MIL and Mr Hubby were so tensed when I wasn’t around, attending the 2-week course last year.

Recently, Cikebum’s whine and whimper are getting worse when he opened his eyes and I am not in his sight. This definitely made me go mad… so, while excusing myself to the loo or for prayers or for a cuppa… the only place he’d go limp is in his Ayah’s arms. That is if we’re lucky enough!

And me… being the green-monster for a minute, would eventually succumb by giving him the clamoured bonbons!

*Sigh*
Mission’s not accomplished.

I remember last few weeks, I lost my mind and tried to teach him a lesson. He seemed to understand and obeyed what I said. He even finished the milk I made for him. But deep in my heart, I was afraid if he develops the same retaliation I kept for Mak.
Then, Mr Hubby came back and I told him what happened. I almost broke into tears when Cikebum turned his face off me. I’m sorry, darl. Lucky that he didn’t refuse his favourite bonbon after that.

Dear Cikebum,

Mama don’t wanna trade the anger with that Puss-in-Boots stare in your big eyes, that cheeky grin in the chubby cheek and the naughty finger that tunes for the channel while having his candu. Waaaa!!!

I don’t wanna grow old being my mum!

The communication theory

I have once written about the importance of communication before --> here.
But what I am going to say today is...
There are times when communication doesn't work as intended.

29 and being loved by friends

It has been a week since I turned 29. Yes, 29! Sounds ancient, eh? No la... am not even in the 3 series. Hahaha.

Anyway, I was gleeful being surrounded by friends during the two consecutive days (26th & 27th Feb).

I had a kinda UQ reunion - with Andy, Fe and Fiza. Hey, why my UQ friends are all serving Hotel & Tourism eh?

It was also a KAP and induksi reunion - with Kay, Jen, K.Ira...
and not to forget, K.Yati whom I gotta know from a course last year.

We shared the small cake with the rest of the course participants. Hihihi. Actually the cake was from Mr Hubby on the eve of my birthday.
We were already aslept while waiting for midnight, and were awakened by a big thud when Cikebum fell off the bed. Ngeee :P

So, I was actually-not-very-surprised by him with this cake full of candles.

I better blow 'em quick, so they don't contribute to global warming! Hahaha :P

Back to the Grooming & Ethics for Professionalism course, frankly we didn't think it was useful, neither that it was effective.
Whatever la... at least we got to gather with old and new friends.

Looking at this pix, it reminds me of the 'professional' speaker who said "Kalau x buat kelaku, x boleh ka?"

OoopS!!! :P

Early this week, I was unsuccesfully-surprised by my dear sidekicks (Sab & Zana). Gosh! It doesn't feel good when u know too much. All surprises would never work!!!

I got this yummy cake... It's really mouth-watering!

As u can see, they purposely lit so many candles on top of it. However there were only 28 candles, but on courtesy, I gave 1 more to make it 29. Hehehe

Thanks, babes!!!

Lost and Found...not

While being excited counting the days to be surrounded by my dear friends on my birthday next Thursday, I suddenly found myself in grief by dusk this week's Thursday.

After seconds stepping into the house, I realized one of the brooches on my kebaya was missing. I was like a mad woman, crying childishly and urged him to look for it.
Being the usual understanding and patient man, Mr Hubby drove us out in search of the lost tiny brooch despite his fatigue after the whole day at work.

We went back to the stalls where we stopped earlier, to Adam’s sitter’s place, to my fac and to his office, yet there were no signs of lost-AND-found. The sentimental part of me felt a bit sad as I was once overjoyed getting them.

Call me selfish, call me unreasonable… or whatever u may. But I don't remember feeling so happy receiving the triplet brooches for our anniversary when we first stepped foot in Sabah.
Much to my disappointment, it is almost impossible to find the same design in the market anymore, even if I stormed into all shopping spots in Sabah. So to say, I have to mix-n-match la. Sob…sob…

Back home, I tried to divert my attention by chitchatting about other subjects while sitting for the takeaway meal. My thoughts told me “I might feel too sad to have my usual appetite to finish this up.”

But after minutes… hehehe…licin jugak rupanya :P

This morning, the outlook I had yesterday somehow had dimmed and I was actually on the verge of tears. Somehow, along the line of growing up, I learn to accept it. Well, that’s the way it should be.

Eh-oh… I am being sentimental here (more like 'mental; actually.).. and nostalgic.. and stupid! Huhuh.. I gotta stop listening to the devil’s whisper and start re-checking what did I do wrong for being ‘tested’ this way.

How grateful I am for getting him as my hubby, to teach me to accept whole-heartedly (redha) with what Allah had decided. I know, if it was him who no-matter-how lost the thing I gave him, I’d just turn the world upside down! Teruknya!

Geng bas sekolah

Since last week, Mr Hubby & I have started to wake up earlier than usual so we don't have to be part of the insane traffic jam that forms around the town, rushing to workplaces, etc.

At about 7ish this morning, on our way to the office, cars and buses have already started moving, to their respective destinations.

Me : Why ah these buses put up stickers like 'Wak Janggut', 'Sri Intan'...
Mr Hubby:
Me : If I were them, I’d put up ‘Geng Bas Sekolah.’ Fancy!
Mr Hubby: They can’t do so. They’ll be sued.
Me : Oh yea… (just realized)
Mr Hubby: Alternately, maybe they can put ‘GBS TTDI Jaya’
Me : Hmm… that sounds cool!

Well, Geng Bas Sekolah (GBS) is the IN tv programme on Astro Ceria for kids nowadays. Perhaps it’s not too much for me to say that it has become a phenomena!

Even my niece can sing the lines from the song from A to Z.

Kamilah geng geng geng bas sekolah
Kami wira bas mencari jawapan
Kamilah geng geng geng bas sekolah
Kamilah wira bas penyelamat dunia

Not to mention my 17mth-old Cikebum who would swing and sway upon hearing the song when the series starts.

Talking about schoolbuses, it rekindles the memories of my highschooldays. Staying in hostels literally means that we wouldn’t have to board schoolbuses. However, it’s an exception for Form 2 and Form 4 students who occupied Asrama Jalan Perak, which is about 15min drive from the main campuis...ehh! school (Asrama Jalan Lunas).

So, every morning, there will be this yellow schoolbus to fetch us to and fro the hostels in two trips. The driver is a friendly Chinese man, and we used to call him ’Apek.’

But there are days when some of us had to go back to the hostel on feet, esp. after extra class like Kelas Kemahiran AlQuran. The number of students was very little that it was not worthy for the bus to pick us up.

I remember one of those days when someone (I don’t remember whether it was a teacher or a prefect) switched on the PA system to make an announcement…

“Assalamualaikum. Attention, please! Students who come to school by Bas Apek, please gather in front of the astaka... bla...bla...”

And I was like… WHAT??? BAS APEKKK? The announcement started with nicely arranged words but suddenly… Duh!!!

I wonder whether that Apek is still alive. If he is, he must be very old now.
