Raya songs

I have been playing raya songs on my PC again and again. And that doesn't include those new-but-nonsense songs sung by the newcomers of the entertainment industry.

I love raya songs Suasana Hari Raya by Anuar & Elina (ohh..abang Nuar centaku!) and Seloka Hari Raya by Hail Amir & Uji Rashid (that reminds me of last year's dinner with the students- I was forced to sing it on the stage).

Every year, composers and lyricists come up with new raya songs, but almost none of them seem to be catchy to me. Bad huh?

Aside from those abovementioned songs, I also enjoy these...

Saloma's Selamat Hari Raya
I used to sing it this way to Mak.
"Mintak mak kuih sepotong... kalau tidak kaki emak saya potong"
Evil tak? Hohoho.

This is also a must-sing while playing fireworks when we were small. Ye la...if we sing Black Dog Bones mellow song, the fireworks would ignite in a slow motion la kot. Hahaha

Fazidah Joned's Selamat Hari Raya
"Aidilfitri...hari bahgia, hari yang mulia..."--- the tempo makes me feel like doing a twist. Ahah!

Sharifah Aini's Selamat Hari Raya
"Hai selamat hari raya..kami semua ucapkan
menikmati hidangan yang kami sediakan"

Ahmad Jais' Selamat Hari Raya
Aisey... So many songs of the same title, ay? And I feel ancient for having this liking towards old songs, rather than the contemporary ones. Duhhh...

Mamat's KuPohon Restu Ayah dan Bonda
A newer version of AlJawaher's. The melody is sweet but as Kokokularigagahberani said "Suara seorang perogol." Hahaha. Jahatnya Acik!

Junainah's Suasana Riang Di Hari Raya
It starts with "Marilah adikku...marilah bersamaku..."
Now it has to be changed to"Marilah anakku...marilah bersamaku..."

M.Nasir's Suatu Hari Di Hari Raya
I reckon most people like it too. Fast beat, but it's meaningful.

Bersabarlah Sayang
Actually I quite don't get it ...I mean, the meaning of the lyrics. Anyway, I like it bcoz it was re-sung by Anuar Zain. Hihihi...boleh gitu?

Other old raya songs in my playlist are...
  • Aishah's Pulanglah
  • DJ Dave's Menjelang Hari Raya
  • Azlina Aziz's Indahnya Beraya Di Desa
  • Aman Shah's Kepulangan Yang Dinanti
  • Noor Kumalasari's Pulang Di Hari Raya
  • P.Ramlee's Dendang Perantau & Suara Takbir
  • Black Dog Bone's Cahaya di Aidilfitri
  • Sudirman's Dari Jauh KuPohon Maaf

Nevertheless, the new version of those songs are not really pleasing to me.

Amongst the new raya songs I like are...

Awie & Ziana's Halaman Asmara
Obviously this is bcoz my SIL-xjadi, Ziana. Huk huk. If u listen carefully, it doesn't sound like a raya song, except that part "Pelita kunyalakan...."

Joget Aidilfitri -is it really sung by Ning Baizura?
"Banyaklah orang menghias rumah
Di hias dengan si bunga hutan
Untuk menyambut hari mulia
Sepurnama kita telah berpuasa"
  • Raihan's Lebaran Ini
  • Amy Mastura's Setahun Sekali
  • Feminin's Kurniaan Di Hari Raya
Siti-kus's songs are not my favs bcoz I'm not her fan.

Fine. Enuff about Raya songs. But which one is your favourite?

Tomorrow is an almost big day. The day after tomorrow (Friday) is Cikebum's 2nd birthday, but as the sitter will be off to her hometown, I will be having a small party at the nursery tomorrow.
So, I'd be slightly bz with the cakes (by MamaPasha), birthday favours, etc.

Okay...am off to the saloon. Need to have a great hair wash before the long break. Bye!

Before we left ...

Raya is just around the corner. Ramadhan is coming to an end. Fasting is almost complete, tarawih is the same. Zakat fitrah has been paid...

Amboi Pak Aji, kontrol macho nampak?!

Raya preparation? Nothing much. Not for our home in Shah Alam.
Kuih raya? Semua tunjuk. All ordered.
Duit raya? Prepared, yet to be inserted in envelopes.
Baju raya? No customized tailoring. Bought for MrHubby & Cikebum.

I am yet to go baju-raya hunting for myself. Waaa...giler last minute!!!
I have browsed several places, but the price is either unreasonable or the fashion is intolerable.

But y'know..I have 6 pairs of new shoes. Six, I repeat. Hahaha. Kang guests datang, jamu makan kasut je la.... :P

(These gorgeous footwear are not the my shoes. Mine are just simple ones)

Those shoes are meant for basahan only, I mean casual/office purpose. But since they are all bought when Raya is nearing, I'll wear 'em for Raya too.

This raya, I'll be going back to Johor (PIL's)... and that'd be on Saturday (most likely after sahur). Good DIL I am, ay? Hehehe.

Not that I am trying to get rid of the house chores/raya preparation, but it's MrHubby's decision- and in this case, I fully support it. Ngeee :P

This would be my first time to visit MrHubby's relatives on Hari Raya. The 1st year, I was in confinement. Raya Haji last year, I celebrated it at the ward when Adam had a fits attack. Hence, while searching for baju raya this time... the keyword is 'outstanding'. Hahaha. Over kan?

And since I won't be in Penang this year, I'd be missing my siblings...

the fun, the teasing (those who can't take it -usually, it's Yone) would pull her face.
And we'd repeat Mak's sayings "Ha...melawak! melawak! Nanti jadi bunga taik!"
(Bunga taik? What a flower!)

Raya in Penang (with my family) might not be as happening as in PIL's, yet I'm looking fwd to gather on the next Raya Haji.

To all of u, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Eid Mubarak!
I hope all will come back from the hometown safely.
Maaf zahir batin- I mean it.

Ailurophobia

Meow...meow...

Who loves cats? Put up your hands!

Whoa... quite a number, eh?

Unfortunately I am the one who is a bit reluctant to raise up mine. I love cuddly animals, and I even have the dream to snuggle a bear... but I am ailurophobic. In other words, I have fear of cats. Not a morbid one, but am just plain scared.

It's such a shame, as our Prophet (PBUH) as well as Abu Hurairah (r.a) enjoyed the presence of cats very much.

My fear started long, long ago.

In the primary school, when there's a cat sneaking into the classroom, I'd put my feet up on the chair.

When I went to Najah's place, her cats jumped onto my lap, and I jumped in shock, horrified. I suppose it's the paws that I'm scared off.

I'm terrified if the cats scratch me. Perhaps, I wouldn't bleed till death and some more, my threshold level is high... I can stand the most painful pain of all, but not an excoriation caused by a cuddly pet. What a shame!

Li'l Cikebum is not that ailurophobic. He's alrite with the meowy animal. Just look at these piccas...

I had an evil experience following Mak to throw some kittens by the roadside once ago (I was still a li'l girl by then). She hates cats very much, hence when there were a few newly born kittens in our store room, she put 'em all in a sack and asked me to accompany her about 300m from our house.

The next day, I passed by that area and discovered that some of 'em were dead. Prolly someone who didn't know what's inside just drove over the sack. I still feel guilty until today.

Hadith - Bukhari 3:553, Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar.
Rasulullah said, "A woman was tortured and was put in Hell because of a cat which she had kept locked till it died of hunger. Allah said (to the woman), 'You neither fed it nor watered when you locked it up, nor did you set it free to eat the insects of the earth.' "

Waaa.... :'( May Allah forgive me for what I did.

Few months ago, I saw a kitten trying to cross the road and a car hit it...and it lied there shivering to death. Few seconds earlier, MrHubby tried to tell the driver (by honking) but it was too late. The kitten was too little to be noticeable... Sob sob...

On a lighter note, until today... I still keep some fear for cats, but not as bad as it used to be. I can pat its back, but only God knows how my heart beats so fast!

Baby...baby, come to me!

Have u bought your baju raya?
Well, I haven't... but for MrHubby & Li'l Cikebum... all's ready.

But thinking that most parents would buy T-shirts/shirts too for the kids for Raya, I think it's gonna be slightly awkward if I don't do it. Not that I bother, but I don't like it when others complain "takkan la beli Baju Melayu je?".

So, we did go for T-shirt raya hunting for Cikebum eventually.

Mama, Otoman!!! May I have this one?

Hiyahhh...(berangan jadi Ultraman la tu!)

And we bought him 2 pairs of his superhero T-shirts. I should have snapped his photo trying to pull down his pants there and then! Tak sabar nak pakai baju Ultraman la tu. Hahaha.

Later, as promised... we went to Midi's place for iftar. Alya, his daughter is so charming. She's a girl, yet she has a collection of Ultraman!!!

...from the biggest to the smallest.

Adam was amazed with the big one.

This is Daddy Ultraman, this is the Mummy (Hoh? Barbie is Mummy Ultraman?)

Bibi, the wife is pregnant of the 2nd baby. Ohh..how I wish...

The next day, we visited the neighbour next door who gave birth end of last July. Giler lambat ziarah!!!

Anyway, Baby Hazim was in good condition. No pix, as it's a bit awkward for me to keep taking pix at the new neighbour's place. Hehe...

After that, time to visit our dear friend, Jalak and Dian's second baby, Aliff Mikael.

Adam sayang Adik.

Dian, the proud mom.

Haihhh... I got it first, but she already has two by now. When is my turn?
Agak-agak, dah ziarah baby ni... dapat tempias tak? Huhu

Tesco oh Tesco

We have been preferring Tesco to Giant for quite some time now. It's just bcoz the prices of most items are lower than those of the latter.

However lately we are very upset with Tesco. Reasons?

1. Some shelves are empty.

2. They put up banners saying that new counters will be opened if there are more than ....5-if-i'm-not-mistaken people queueing.

3. Things shown in the flyers (to be on promotion) are not available. Huhu... there goes my dream to buy a mixer!

4. Our last coupons were not delivered bcoz they didn't update my change of address after about 2 months. Hampeh kan?

5. The latest, last weekend...I bought our fav Chrysanthemum Tea bcoz it was on the so-called promotion.

As u could see, buy two at the price of RM2.89.

But at the counter, I was charged RM1.75 per box, hence RM10.50.

So, we queried and the cashier asked a staff in-charge to check the price tag for us. MrHubby's face was already like lusus naturae goliath by that time, demanding to meet the Manager. It was our second or third time facing this problem, and the last time we didn't complain anything.

The girl came after making us wait like idiots for a few mins, only to tell us that it was really RM1.75.

Not satisfied, I cancelled the purchase and walked to the shelves again to check, snapped the photo.

Then, I asked another staff (Zuraidah)... what does the price tag mean? (just in case I got it wrong) and she clarified it the way I interpreted it.

Apa lagi? I told her what happened and she took us to the Customer Service Counter to pay for the right price. Huh! Puas hati aku...

Well, I know it is just a few cents but hello... why are u guys trying to cheat customers, even after the first staff re-checked it?

I remember in BNE, Kelly used to buy navel oranges at Coles and she was always charged the higher price of another breed of oranges. The result?
She got them for free.

Haihhh...Can't Tesco or Giant do something similar?
