Mok Su Jamal's daughter-in-law

Yesterday, Sham & I took little Cikebum to the clinic as his health was not improving - he vomitted in the car when I tried to breastfeed him. The Dr. prescribed some medicines and dehydration salt and off we went home.

Shortly after, when I tried feeding him the medicines, he expelled it out and spewed again. So, we rushed to the ER of the hospital. After about an hour, we met the Dr...and he just said that Cikebum could be lactulose-intolerant (or is it lactose intolerant?). Hmm...how is that possible while he doesn't consume formula? Anyway, he advised that I stop breastfeeding for a while and opt to soy-based formula. Whatever!

When we arrived home, despite feeling sleepy, we had a very late dinner in front of the TV while watching Saving Private Ryan.Don't be surprised...that was my first time watching this movie, though people have talked about it since 10 years ago. Haha! Well, apparently there's Tom Hanks- and I tend to stay put when he's acting. So, I watched till the end.

Throughout the 2 hrs (I watched halfway), I kept criticizing and condemning.
The main cast being condemned by me was Corporal Timothy E. Upham (Jeremy Davies), who is attached to the squad as a language translator. Though exposed to the horror of war for the first time, he shouldn't be such a coward!
"Eee..marah betul aku. Lembab! Chicken-hearted! Bodoh! "

I remember the scene he was standing on the staircase where shell shock and fear paralyzed him such that he could not lift a finger to help and the German walked past him. He was so ignobly timid and faint-hearted! Poltroon!

"Huh! Takde Tel*r ke? Eee...teruknya dia nie! What a malicious pussilanimous!"
Sham said..."U see, that's what happens in life, one bad apple can ruin the whole group. It happens in our daily lives too, whether or not we realize it"

Yes, in this case, Upham fails in his duty to deliver ammunition.

Sissy boy! Craven! Toksah hidup la kalo macam ni...

A few mins before the war ended, Upham was so enraged that he leaped up and gunned down a German.
Why la this guy?Is that all he could do? After a pool of blood is wasted? Buduh! Buduh!

That was it... and at the end of the movie, Sham looked at me. Rubbing my head, he said "Sayang abang ni.. kalau tengok citer, memang semangat. Sebijik macam Mok Su Jamal (his mom). Abang saja je biar tadi..tengok Sayang sedar tak yang Sayang tengah semangat mengutuk. Hahaha."
(This honey of mine, she's so peppy when watching films. Just like Mok Su Jamal. I purposely let u speak up bcoz u were so carried away with dissatisfaction. Hahaha)

I was so malu... Hahaha. Hampeh sungguh laki ku!
Yes, that's the truth... when she look after me during the confinement, we watched a lot of movies/dramas together, and with a grin, Sham would say "Elok la tu...dah kena sangat la dua-dua orang ni...macam pengulas/pengkritik filem."
(Suits u two well. Both of u are like professional film critics)

Talking about criticizing films/dramas on TV, I remember those younger days...when I was still a student, we watched Secreto De Amor (the Venezuela telenovela). It was so annoying and ridiculous that all guys would be attracted to the Maria Clara, and all girls would envy her. Besides, the stupid Maria Clara kept going for Carlos Raul although he cheated on her while Lisandro is a much better catch.

Funny, right? I know it's pesky, yet I kept watching. Haha. Just my two cents worth, I think this telenovela would be better if they make Maria Clara a bit smarter.

Well, what to do? After all, I am Mok Su Jamal's daughter-in-law :P

You and I - what language do we speak?

"I ingat U tak datang"
"Of course I datang. Father I siap hantar I lagi, memang sporting!"

(I thought you are not coming)
(Of course I come. My father even sent me here, he's very supportive)

I bet that this kind of conversation is common to our ears, with the English pronouns 'You' and 'I' sprinkled all over the dialogues and rojak (mixed) Manglish.

Rather than saying it "Father I", might as well use "My father". Still two English words. Or maybe the speaker is just too stupid to use correct grammar?

Don't we have our own pronouns? Certainly we do. There is such a proliferation of pronouns in our language, each indicating a particular shade between the speaker and the one spoken to.
We have...
-Saya, aku, beta, hamba, patik (the last 3 for the royals) -to replace 'I'
-Awak, kamu, engkau, kau -to replace 'you'

When we speak bazaar Malay, we might opt to the Chinese 'Lu' and 'Gua' complete with twang.
It isn't complicated! So, why turn to sheer desperation to the simplicity of 'You' and 'I'?

Are we waiting for some trendsetters to introduce a catchy alternative? I think it's already colourful that we have different dialects in almost every states (e.g. Chek-Hang, Ambo-Ekau, etc.)

Still not enough?

Happy birthday, dear Darling!

How do I love u?
let me count the ways...

I love u to the depth and breadth and height
my soul can reach
when feeling out of sight
for the ends of being and ideal grace

I wouldn't mind counting more, dear
if only infinity were a number :-*

I had these gelly thingy sticked onto the sliding door, to surprise Sham early in the morning when he opened the door, together with a small card (in the pix above). I didn't choose to put up the word "Happy Birthday" as it wouldn't be suitable to look at throughout the year.

After work, I fetched Adam and sent him to Sab's place.

Then, I picked Sham and demanded to go to the Big Plate, Subang Permai. Sham thought I have planned a surprise for him (unfortunately, not this year!).

I ordered Mixed Grill (ye, saye tamak! haha) while Sham ordered Chicken Piccata. The former is a usual combination of beef, chicken and lamb grill with in-house sauce & fresh salad.

The latter is creamy carbonara spaghetti served with generous serving of vege and chicken slices dipped into eggs and coated in a flour batter that is then pan fried. Nyum2.

Then, after picking Adam, we went back home. I bathed & prayed, and surprised Sham with a small Lychee Cake, accompanied with Adam who crawled from the kitchen upon seeing a candle on the cake.

I hope he likes the small gift (apart from the brand new glasses) & the card that he said is cute! No fancy celebration this year, as Sham refused to be surprised. It makes him feel bad about himself for failing to make surprises for me. Hahaha... Kesian laki aku...

To Sab & Zana, thanks for babysitting Adam for me. Hehe...kena bayar ke? The pay must be very high for Master-holder sitters! Mati le aku :P

Bad dream

I had a bad dream last night. Woke Sham up, to share my fear.
He hugged me...and continued his sleep.

I shook him again, telling him that i had a nightmare.
He answered..."Hmmm" and continued sleeping.

Again, I said..."Ayah, don't leave me. He's trying to separate us."
He replied "Aaaa..." and zzzz....

Hampeh! Fate bodiiii...

Anger management

Last night, Sham told me something that made me worried. I have changed to a bad tempered person!

Without me realizing, actually these days, I tend to lash out at everyone who crosses my path, with harsh words. OMG! What's wrong with me?

Worse, no matter who pissed me off, I'd channel my pique to Sham. Actually, it's bcoz I express to and share most of my feelings with him. reason? He's a good listener (apart from Sab & Zana) and if he doesn't listen, things will get worse. Poor him! After a long day at the office, he still has to listen to my shitty stories.

I remember once ago, I managed to control my snappishness just by remembering a statement... "Anger is the food of the crazy" (Marah itu adalah makanan orang gila).

How did the patience vanish? Astaghfirullahal 'azim....

Those who spend in the path of Allah in prosperity and adversity and who restrain anger and who pardon men. And virtuous people are dear to Allah.
Ali Imran: 134

Well, I better think twice, thrice or numerous times before I say anything. Mulut tak boleh laju daripada processor! :P

Dear Sham, sorry that u have to put up with my temper tantrums. I feel bad :(
